A shuriken was a small blade that did its work through precision and control rather than mass or force, and the same principle governs this tool. A rotating cover turns to expose the one you want and closes again to protect both: a wider bore of roughly 9.5 mm and a narrower one of roughly 6.5 mm, so one tool suits both slender and thick ring gauges.
